Sebastian picking a coconut

Nils and Pia Vishart along with their children  Sebastian, Christian, Nina and Mette (Christian’s girlfriend) came to Philippines for the first time to spend 14 days of vacation just like Fogtmann Family.

The Visharts went on a boating tour  and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful corals  and colorful fishes in the Mangrove Cove Coral Garden  where  they  spent  a wonderful  time snorkeling and swimming. They also explored the high mountains, majestic vistas and exciting sceneries around Puerto Galera inside Coco Beach’s 4-wheel drive Pajero. While here,  they also distributed clothes, rice and bread  to our Mangyan brothers.

Nina tries to climb but she can only go so far unlike her strong brothers.

But for Sebastian and Christian, the older  Vishart children,  the most exciting part of their stay was an action-filled, adrenaline-pumping  Pick Your Own Coconut. This is not your ordinary fruit-picking activity  as  the  coconuts  have to  be picked from  a 20-meter high coconut tree. With the help of their Service Papa Mario, In-house Physician Doc Ariel and Warlito from Services, and the guys from the Activity Center, Sebastian and Christian climbed  up one of these trees and to ensure their safety,  a harness was rigged to keep them from falling off the tree. Usually, locals just  clamber up  the coconut trees without any safety gear  but this takes years of practice but for the two young boys, this  was easy as they  were both strong and physically fit.  And the best part of the activity… cracking  the  coconuts  with a “bolo” and drinking its sweet juice straight up!

They all enjoyed the fresh buko juice

Pick Your Own Coconut is No. 74 in the 101 Activities of Coco Beach that you can do  while  in the resort. Just ask  any of our Activity coordinators  about it  and  they would be more than happy to help you choose  which activity you like!
